1

Individual Therapy for Adolescents and Adults

I have nearly three decades of experience helping teenagers and adults overcome issues like anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. My main approach is psychodynamic, but I am trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) as well. I'm a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Australia and I work with expat clients in Japan and throughout the world.

Therapy for Couples and Families

Our intimate relationships are the most important and rewarding aspects of our lives, but they can also be the most difficult and painful. If you are struggling with your partner or your family, you may feel lonely, hurt, angry, or hopeless. You may wonder if your relationship can survive, or if you should stay or leave. You may feel stuck in a cycle of conflict, misunderstanding, or distance. I am trained in Emotion-focused Couples Therapy (EFT) as well as family systems therapy, and I love working with couples and families. It can be pretty tough - but I find it profoundly rewarding.

Clinical Supervision for Mental Health Professionals

Psychotherapy is a challenging, sometimes even "impossible" profession, and good clinical supervision is a vital part of our work, whether you're a newcomer to the field or a seasoned veteran. It improves the quality of your work, protects your clients, and even contributes to your own personal well-being. I'm passionate about doing psychotherapy well; I seek out training and supervision for myself whenever and wherever I can, and I have always enjoyed providing clinical supervision and consultation to my fellow therapists.

My Approach

Psychotherapy is collaborative.

I can't just solve your problems with a few words of advice, but you and I can work together to figure out what's going on and what can be done about it. I put my knowledge and experience at your disposal, offer support, give feedback, even assign homework - but psychotherapy is more like a workout at the gym than a visit to the doctor. It requires an active effort on your part, both during your sessions with me and at other times throughout the week.
